Educational Technology Curriculum Overview  
Pre-school
 
Preschool students learn how to become comfortable using the mouse to select items and interact with websites such as Starfall.com as well as other educational software.

Kindergarten
 
Kindergarten students are introduced to keyboarding using Type to Learn 3. KidPix will be used for painting and drawing activities.

1st Grade
 
First graders start the year with becoming acquainted with the keyboard, its letters and numbers and using KidPix for painting and drawing activities.

2nd Grade
 
Second grade students learn basic computer vocabulary and how to use both hands as they type words using Type to Learn 3 and use KidPix for slideshow presentation activities.

3rd and 4th Grade
 
Third grade students reinforce keyboarding skills using Type to Learn 3 and KidPix as well as MS PowerPoint for slideshow presentation activities. Fourth grade students review correct typing skills using Type to Learn 3 and learn how to use Paint.net  for painting and drawing activities. They also use MS PowerPoint for presentations and MS Word for word processing.

5th and 6th Grade
 
Fifth and sixth grade students take Technology Ed once per quarter as a rotation class and focus on reinforcing keyboarding skills, learning about online safety, effective Internet searching, and how to use MS Office 2007 while completing team -based project activities.

7th and 8th Grade Electives
 
Advanced Technology- Students focus on mastering keyboarding skills and learn advanced research concepts. Team-based project activities focus on learning about online safety, effective Internet searching, and how to use MS Office 2007 and other technology tools and applications.
 
Yearbook- Yearbook is a semester-long elective in which students learn to use the StudioWorks program to edit, design and develop the school’s yearbook. Students have the opportunity to learn basic digital photography skills, creative layout designs, and photo collages, as well as develop writing skills through storytelling, clever quotations, or memorable phrases.
