Dear families of Holy Spirit Episcopal School,
It is a privilege and an honor to accept the position as Head of School for one of West Houston’s finest independent schools. I am looking forward to getting to know Holy Spirit’s students, staff, and parents, as well as members of our neighboring community. My son Alexander and I would like to thank you for making us feel very welcome and connected to HSES in such a short time. As we both step into our nation’s fourth largest city, we have quickly gathered that Holy Spirit has an outstanding reputation as a unique, nurturing academic haven.
It is important for you to know how well the Search Committee demonstrated the school’s values of joy, optimism, research-based practices, enrichment and a strong faith base. They painted a picture of what a nearly 50-year-old independent school is all about, and, as your new Head, I will have a blank canvas to explore what is yet to come. Serving as your Head of School is an enormous responsibility, and I welcome your participation and value your positive feedback going forward.
Observing, listening and taking part in all aspects of our school life are my immediate priorities. There are exciting things happening, and I support HSES’s very dedicated professionals as they continue to accomplish what it is that they come to HSES to do each day—to engage with your children and to truly teach.
Thank you for trusting us with your children, and for providing each of us with the confidence and opportunity to focus on their educational, physical, social and spiritual needs. Please know that it is my intention to provide the kind of day when I can ask myself at every juncture if I handled an issue in the way that I would want it to be handled for my own son. Bear with me as I have much to learn. Great things are happening on Perthshire Road. Celebrating the many accomplishments of our school community and providing input and support for a brighter future will be exhilarating.
Most of all, thank you for giving me the opportunity to embrace what I like doing the most!
All the best to all of you,

Lori A. Preston
